Story of Us

I knew he was ‘the one’ during our first date… which was really the second date because Dustin stood me up for the first one.  In 2004, we started dating.
August 2005
In September 2006, Dustin joined the United States Marine Corps. After three months of basic training, I joined his family in Parris Island, SC for the graduation. His mother made an offhand comment that he should go ahead and marry me. So we did.
In December 2006, we got married at Fountain Square in downtown Chattanooga, TN. The bride wore jeans, turtleneck, and leather coat.

But as someone very wise once told me, “If there are no pictures, there is no proof.”
So we planned a fun ceremony for family and a few friends at the Williamsport Seventh Day Adventist Church in Williamsport, MD. In December 2007, we said our “I do’s” again. We joke that if we forget our real anniversary, we have a back up date three days later.

The Marine Corps moved us to Camp Lejeune, NC. After enjoying coastal Carolina, we were stationed in Iwakuni, Japan. From there we spent three years in Nashville, TN and our family grew. Now we're heading out west for an entirely new set of adventures. As the first entry to this blog says:

One part documentation of our overseas adventures, one part keeping in touch with friends and family. Either way, join us as we explore, dream, and discover.
